On April 7, the Taicang Roundtable held its April General Managers’ Meeting at the Taicang Loudong Hotel.
First, Mr. Zhixian Liu , Chief Representative of VDMA Shanghai, shared the VDMA’s analysis report on the current status and future outlook of China’s machinery and equipment industry for 2025. The presentation covered key aspects including business climate, the globalization process of Chinese enterprises, the impact of the 15th Five-Year Plan, and observations on key industries.
Next, Ms. Wei Wu, China Business Development Manager at the Fraunhofer IPA (Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation), and Mr. Simon Schumacher, Manager of the IT Solutions of Fraunhofer IPA, shared insights on global trends in the digital and intelligent transformation of manufacturing. Mr. Schumacher presented the research findings of the “New Lean” initiative, which aims to address the challenge of slowing productivity growth in Germany by integrating four key technological platforms—automation, digitalization, circularity, and system optimization—with the goal of doubling productivity by 2035.
Fraunhofer IPA also introduced a special fund established by Taicang City to promote collaboration between enterprises and research institutes. With an annual budget of up to 20 million RMB, the fund provides non-repayable grants of up to 1 million RMB per project.
Following the conference, attendees toured the Taicang Loudong Hotel.
